Jimi Oreum with the best view in Jeju Island (지미봉)

 Jeju Island, which has a different attraction from Seoul, is one of my favorite area in Korea. I used to visit Jeju Island 3~4 times a year to walk along the Olle trail. Jeju Island has many things to see, such as Mt. Halla, beautiful sea, various oreum (Jeju Island is called the "Oreum kingdom" because there are 368 kinds of oreum. It is a peak made from volcanic eruptions.) and so on. 

 

 Among them, I will introduce today is Jimi oreum in the eastern part of Jeju with a view Udo Island and Seongsan Ilchulbong. "Jimi" means the end of the earth and it is a course of 21 olle trail.

Jimibong

 

 Jimi oreum is not a touristic place, but a place where only Jeju residents know about it. It is also a hidden place that only I want to know. I recommend this place to those who want to enjoy the scenery of Jeju Island or those who want to visit a quiet place rather than a crowded touristic place or those who want to see the sunrise. It is not difficult to visit because there are two bus stops near Jimi oreum. I recommend you visit here using Kakao or Naver map. As you know, Google map doesn't work well in Korea. 

 

 

 It takes about 20~30 minutes to get to the top, but after the middle of the climb comes out of steep wooden steps so be careful not to slip. Once you reach the top of Jimi oreum, which is 166 meters, you will see a wonderful view of Udo Island, Seongsan Ilchulbong, a small village of Jongdal-ri and beautiful sea of Jeju Island at once. 

 

 

 Near jimi oreum, there is a migratory bird's nest, which is a topography with extensive coastal tidal flats and coastal wetlands. There are jimi oreum to the east, the sea to the north and reed beds to the south, providing shelter for migratory birds. Especially, this is a place where seawater and river water are mixed, the water is rich in food such as mullet, shrimp, and shellfish, making it the best place to migratory birds in winter.

 

 

 This area is famous for carrots so I recommend you to experience a variety of desserts made from carrots such as carrot juice, carrot bingsu and carrot cake at cafes in this area. I first experienced the sweet taste of carrots here.
