Jeju Island is an island so you can eat various seafood dishes. There are also dishes that can only be eaten in Jeju Island. The restaurant I want to introduce to you today is the place where serve customers dishes made from fresh seafood. It is located in the northeastern part of Jeju Island and there is a beautiful beach (Hyeopjae beach) near this restaurant. So if you have the plan to visit Hyeopjae beach, I recommend you visit this place. It wasn't as famous as it is now when I visited there for the first time. It has become so famous among tourists these days so you may have to wait a while if you visit during lunch or dinner time.

I've visited this restaurant several times. So I would like to leave my own comments on each menu which I've tried. I hope my comments will help you when you visit this restaurant and choose a menu. I ordered Haemul Kalguksu (Boiled flat noodles soup with octopus, mussels, abalone, and shrimp) and Bomal Kalguksu (Boiled flat noodles soup with gastropods) the most. Haemul Kalguksu (Boiled flat noodles soup with octopus, mussels, abalone, and shrimp) is a kalguksu made with four kinds of fresh seafood and the amount of seafood in kalguksu is also abundant. The word 'Bomal' in the Bomal Kalguksu (Boiled flat noodles soup with gastropods) means kind of gastropods in Jeju Island's dialect. It is special because it is a kind of local dish of Jeju Island.

It is also very delicious to eat Mulhoe (raw sliced fish served in iced watery sauce). The color of it looks red so it seems spicy but it tastes not that much spicy because it is kind of sweet-sour spicy. If you like raw fish like sushi, I think you will like it.

The Eolkeun Kalguksu (Spicy boiled flat noodles soup) is not special.

For basic side dishes, there are 2 kinds of kimchi and pickled radish. You can take more side dishes yourself. If you leave side dishes, you will have to pay a fine of KRW 1000. I left a few side dishes last time, but the owner didn't ask me to pay a fine. I think they wrote it on purpose as a warning not to leave side dishes.

Hyeopjae Beach is one of my favorite beaches on Jeju Island. In fact, I like Geumneung Beach next to Hyeopjae Beach even though Hyeopjae is very popular to tourists. It is a bit quiet, clean and great place to enjoy water sports. It is great to walk along the coastline from Hyeopjae Beach to Geumneung Beach. If you have time, it would be nice to have lunch at the Hyeopjae Kalguksu restaurant and take a walk on this coastline.

The price has become more expensive than before and there are many customers so sometimes I have to wait. But why I visit this restaurant until now even though there are several disadvantages is the kindness of the owner and the taste of dishes. I hope these kinds of old and local restaurants will stay in business for a long time with the same tastes of dishes and kindness.
