Jeon (Korean: 전) refers to a dish made by seasoning whole, sliced, or minced fish, meat, vegetables, etc., and coating them with wheat flour and egg wash before frying them in oil. Jeon can be made with ingredients such as fish, meat, poultry, seafood, and vegetable, and be served as an appetizer.

Ramyeon (Korean: 라면), often translated as instant noodles, is a Korean instant noodle dish made by boiling a precooked and dried noodle block with flavoring powder or sauce. Korean usually eat Ramyeon with toppings such as egg, chopped scallions, and chili peppers.

Sundae (Korean: 순대) is a type of blood sausage in Korean cuisine. It is popular street food in both North and South Korea, generally made by steaming cow or pig's intestines stuffed with various ingredients, such as noodle and vegetables.

Kalguksu (Korean: 칼국수; Noodle soup; literally "knife noodles") is a Korean noodle dish consisting of handmade, knife-cut wheat flour noodles served in a large bowl with broth and other ingredients. It is traditionally considered a seasonal food, consumed most often in summer. Its name comes from the fact that the noodles are not extruded or spun, but cut.

After finishing my work on Friday evening, I took a bus from the East Seoul Terminal and left for Sokcho with a joyful mind. After arriving, it's already past 9:30 pm and all the restaurants are closed. So on the first day, I had no choice so I ate dinner with convenience store food. From the second day on, I started to visit restaurants around my hotel with the intention of eating a lot of Sokcho's delicious food. Amai Honggejip restaurant is the first restaurant on this trip! Amai Honggejip restaurant is in the Abai village, and it takes 2~3 minutes to get there by a small boat. It took me about 10 minutes to walk from my hotel to the boat dock, but the rain and wind blew my umbrella over and over, so I0 minutes felt like 30 minutes. Raining can not stop me from eating! I arrived at the restaurant with all my clothes wet.

To go to Amai Honggejip restaurant, you first have to take a small boat from the boat dock to the village of Abai. It is not hard to find a boat dock. (Please note that I've attached a map of the dock below) It is my first time riding on this boat and it doesn't move with motor. It is a way to connect the two docks with wire and pull the rope. I thought it was a very environmentally-friendly system. The cost of the boat is KRW 500 one-way.

It's not that hard to go to a restaurant because the Abai village is not big. Walk to the restaurant in 5 minutes from the mud boat dock! And it's easier to find because it's on the street than other restaurants in the alley. A small restaurant with a single floor is the Amai Honggejip restaurant! From the outside, I thought there were only a few seats, but there were a lot of seats. It was just lunchtime when I went there, but it was a rainy day, so I thought there weren't many customers, but it was full of customers. It is amazing how all of the other customers know about this restaurant because it is just small and local restaurant.

There were a lot of restaurants that had good reviews selling Abai sundae and squid sundae around the restaurant. I chose this place because I wanted to eat ramen with red crabmeat.

After thinking a lot, I ordered 홍게라면 (Korean instant noodle with red crabmeat), 아바이순대 (Sokcho local sundae) and 오징어순대 (Sokcho local sundae with squid) for two people. I wanted to order other menus too, but I couldn't order them because I thought I couldn't finish them.

The owner of the restaurant and the staff are very kind. I felt like I was at my grandmother's house. Of course, you may feel that the restaurant is a little messy, but there was nothing to complain about foods. They made all the side dishes and the food is made at the same time as the order. Most of all, most of the menus taste great. Even the side dishes were delicious.

To be honest, Sokcho local sundae or Sokcho local sundae with squid is a dish that cannot be tasteless. The Sokcho local sundae with squid in this restaurant tasted so good because it tasted less of an egg or pepper than any other place and was a bit more crispy on the outside. And Korean instant noodle with red crabmeat is really good too. It's not as much red crabmeat in the Ramyeon but it is really hard to try it in the other area so I was really happy to try it there.

I recommend this restaurant for those who:

- want to experience real Korean local food

- plan to travel to Sokcho

- want to visit an old Korean restaurant

- love red crabmeat
